Position Summary

The Incumbent will be responsible for leading and managing all civil engineering, structural, and infrastructure activities associated with the development, construction, expansion, and modernization of DRI Plants, Integrated Steel Plants, and other heavy industrial facilities. The role oversees civil engineering design reviews, site development, construction execution, contractor performance, quality assurance, safety compliance, project scheduling, and cost control to ensure successful project delivery.

This position serves as a key member of the project execution team and collaborates closely with engineering consultants, EPC contractors, operations teams, regulatory agencies, and corporate stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle—from concept and detailed engineering through commissioning and handover.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, extensive heavy industrial construction experience, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale steel, mining, and metals projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Job Responsibilities


Civil Engineering & Design Review
  • Review and validate civil, structural, and infrastructure designs prepared by consultants and EPC contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
  • Evaluate engineering drawings, calculations, technical reports, and design changes.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering interfaces and support value engineering initiatives.
Construction Management
  • Lead and oversee all civil construction activities from mobilization to project completion.
  • Monitor progress, schedules, and milestone achievement.
  • Resolve field engineering issues and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Ensure construction activities meet quality, safety, and project objectives for Greenfield and Brownfield developments.
Structural & Infrastructure Execution
  • Manage execution of foundations, concrete and steel structures, roads, drainage systems, utilities, and industrial infrastructure.
  • Oversee earthworks, excavation, piling, grading, and geotechnical activities.
  • Ensure proper integration of water, sewer, stormwater, and utility distribution systems.
  • Supervise foundations for heavy industrial equipment and process units.
Industrial Buildings & Plant Facilities
  • Oversee construction of industrial buildings, warehouses, workshops, control rooms, substations, and process structures.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of foundations supporting furnaces, reactors, conveyors, crushers, mills, and material handling systems.
  • Coordinate civil interfaces for equipment installation and plant construction activities.
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Review work plans, schedules, manpower, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct performance reviews and resolve technical, contractual, and execution-related issues.
  • Act as the primary civil engineering representative for project stakeholders.
Budget & Cost Control
  • Support preparation and management of construction budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor expenditures, review contractor invoices, change orders, and claims.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to financial performance reporting.
Quality Assurance & Safety
  • Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures, inspection plans, and quality standards.
  • Review inspection reports, material test results, and NCR corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and site safety requirements.
  • Participate in audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety improvement initiatives.
Project Planning & Regulatory Compliance
  • Coordinate with planning, procurement, engineering, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Monitor schedules, identify project risks, and support mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, permits, environmental standards, and statutory approvals.
Commissioning & Handover
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Ensure closure of punch-list items and completion of as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate final inspections, project acceptance, and successful handover to operations and maintenance teams.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, construction management, and project execution.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale industrial infrastructure, structural, and plant construction projects.
  • Strong expertise in civil engineering design and construction management.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM platforms, and engineering document management systems.
  • Ability to review engineering calculations, structural analyses, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work in complex, cross-functional industrial project environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Salary Range
  • $100,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
