Position Summary:
The Sales and Operational Planning (“S&OP”) Manager owns Mesabi Metallics' integrated sales and operations planning process, connecting customer demand, production availability, inventory, volume allocations and shipment requirements into a single operating plan. The role provides the cross-functional planning discipline needed to identify gaps, constraints and decisions before they affect customer commitments or logistics execution.
This position works closely with Operations, Commercial, Rail and Marine Logistics to maintain the rolling demand/supply plan and translate commercial requirements into executable shipment priorities. The S&OP Manager develops scenarios, maintains planning assumptions and provides the CCO with clear visibility to allocation choices, capacity constraints and near- and longer-term demand and supply risks.

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the S&OP Manager will be responsible for the following:
  • Own and maintain the integrated rolling demand/supply plan for customer demand, production availability, inventory, allocations and shipment requirements
  • Reconcile customer and offtake forecasts with required delivery timing and identify gaps, over-allocation or competing priorities
  • Develop and maintain volume allocation scenarios by customer, destination, product and timing
  • Coordinate with Operations on production forecasts, concentrate/pellet availability, inventory positions and operating constraints
  • Coordinate with Rail and Marine Logistics Managers on transportation feasibility, capacity and routing constraints
  • Maintain the master commercial shipment requirement calendar and identify decisions or escalations required from management
  • Monitor inventory outlook across plant, in-transit and terminal positions in coordination with Logistics
  • Incorporate international demand requirements provided by Head of International Sales into the integrated plan
  • Prepare S&OP scenarios, cross-functional meeting materials and management decision packages
Maintain forecast assumptions, planning KPIs and longer-range capacity/demand scenarios, and ensure clear handoff of approved shipment requirements to logistics execution

Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of S&OP, supply chain planning, production planning, commercial planning or related experience in mining, manufacturing, bulk commodities or heavy industry preferred
  • Strong analytical and scenario-planning capability with experience balancing demand, supply, inventory and transportation constraints
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional planning discussions and convert complex inputs into clear decisions and priorities
  • Strong organizational, communication and data-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, developing operating environment
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered

Physical Requirements:
Primarily office-based with periodic access to plant or logistics operating areas. Duties require regular use of a laptop, phone and other standard office equipment; site access may require appropriate PPE.

Salary:$129,000 - $154,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
