Position Summary
The Mobile Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy mobile equipment to support safe and efficient mining operations. This includes the operation of haul trucks, dozers, graders, loaders, and water trucks to move materials, maintain haul roads, and support production targets.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor - Mine, the Mobile Equipment Operator will be responsible for the following:
- Operate mobile equipment such as haul trucks, dozers, graders, excavators, loaders, and water trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform pre-start inspections and monitor equipment performance throughout the shift.
- Follow production plans and supervisor instructions to complete assigned tasks on time.
- Support dig, dump, and stockpile activities, as well as road maintenance and clean-up operations.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings and communicate effectively with other operators, supervisors, and dispatch.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety procedures, including traffic management, exclusion zones, and environmental regulations.
- Report equipment defects, near misses, or safety incidents promptly.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, training sessions, and safety initiatives.
- Assist with other site duties or equipment operations as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven competency operating mobile mining equipment.
- Relevant equipment tickets or verification of competency (VOC) for machines operated.
- Strong knowledge of safe operating procedures, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in remote, challenging environments.
- Good communication and situational awareness skills.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Valid driver's license; heavy equipment certification or licensing may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to loud noise, dust, heavy machinery, and uneven terrain.
- Some lifting and strength are required.
- Must be available to work shifts, weekends, callouts and company mandated overtime.
Salary Range:
- $38 - $44 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
